What If Getting Volunteers Was Actually Fun?
Hey, children’s ministry friend!
How is your volunteer recruitment for the new school year going?
What?! You haven't started yet?
I get it — this is a crazy busy season.
You might be in the middle of a VBS, camp, or vacation, and just haven't had time or energy to plan your recruiting campaign yet.
I don’t mean to spoil your fun but the truth is —
The time to start recruiting volunteers for the new school year is NOW.
Remember, July and August are your most strategic months for recruiting and getting ready for fall. What happens in these months sets the tone for the rest of the year.
If you win in July and August, the rest of the year will go much smoother.
This means that you must stay focused on recruiting and make it your top priority.
How do you stay focused?
By saying NO to many good but distracting and less important things.
And here’s one more bitter pill for you —
Summer is the worst time for recruiting, but it’s also the only time you have to find an army of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers eager to lend their hands and hearts to sharing God’s love with children.
The first half of the summer people are in "vacation mode."
The last half of the summer they're in the "back-to-school" frenzy.
This leaves them with a very small mental capacity to think about volunteering.
That explains all of your unanswered emails, calls, and texts.
This means you and I have to fight for every ounce of their attention and for every second of their time.
To help you with the daunting task of volunteer recruiting, I just released a brand-new Volunteer Attraction Campaign called: TROUBLE.
